The Voice
I know it exists, so don't be worried that I didn't know about my obsession before this past week. I just get to learn new and interesting ways in which Bon Jovi is a part of my life. (As a side discussion to Dave...you may think they sold out and you're allowed your opinion, but I greatly believe [and can't be swayed otherwise] that they've gotten better with age...which would be the opinion that I'm allowed...end of side discussion.)
The annual conference I went this week is where I get to learn new ways to better manage one of the programs I control at work. It deals primarily with organization-issued credit cards, so naturally (in today's world) one of the classes was on Identity Theft. This was actually the one session the whole week that I wanted to make sure I attended. I don't get to attend all the classes because sometimes they schedule two classes I want to attend during the same time slot. Anyway...I went to the class and the instructor began the session. It was really interesting, actually, and I learned a lot in that short 45 minutes. The interesting thing was that I sat there completely enthralled by it all. Usually in these classes I'm sitting there just listening for things I don't know so I can write them down while I watch the clock for the class to be over. But this one was different. I was seeing eye to eye with the instructor. I was hanging on his every word, but I couldn't put my finger on why. Of course the subject matter was interesting, and he was very informative and knowledgeable about it. But I finally realized it was his voice. His voice was really soothing and calm. I found myself wishing the class would never end, so that he would just keep talking. Then it hit me...
...His voice sounded exactly like Jon's voice in every interview I've ever watched/listened to.
It was uncanny really. I kept saying...maybe it was just that word, but the more I listened to him the more I said nope...if I close my eyes right now I'd think Jon was teaching this class. I almost walked up to the instructor, whose name was Howard, to ask him if he was from New Jersey because that would have explained it all, but I didn't bother. I did tell my account manager about it and she said, "Thanks. I have to go sit through his class next and that's all I'm going to be thinking about." The next day I asked her if I was right and she said absolutely. She said she told Howard about it and he looked at her like she was nuts. So, I guess it's a good thing I didn't ask him if he was from New Jersey. Anyway, that's my funny story from the conference. I discovered that I've listened, watched, and studied Bon Jovi so much that I'd know his voice anywhere.
Sadly though I can't say that about God. Oh, I've heard God's voice before...many, many times...but I don't know that I would be able to say I'd know it anywhere. So, there's my prayer for the rest of my life...that I will learn and know God's voice anywhere and definitely more so than Jon's voice because no matter how much I love and adore Bon Jovi and their music...none of that is gettin' me anything eternal.

Leann, Good thoughts. Thanks. :-)
You know those identity theft commercials where the guy has a girls voice or somthing like that..perhaps howard stole jon's identity..
There's just something in a voice that can captivate. Bring on the obsession my friend! :)
I can completely understand that. It's very cool that he sounded like Jon and that made the lecture more interesting. :)
