Sweet Curses

So, Who’s it gonna be? Which team is going to cut down the nets in Indy as the 2006 Men’s Basketball National Champions? I’ll give you a hint. It’s probably not one of these six teams. As much as I would love to see GMU take it all the way, I’ll be surprised if they do. I am a little surprised to see Boston College considered a surprise though. Sports Illustrated keeps trying to knock out the curse by putting multiple teams on their cover, but hey…I still think the curse is alive. So it's up to you, BC, Bradley (eliminated last night), Florida, GMU, Gonzaga (eliminated last night), and Wichita State. Surprise us all and beat the curse!

Take that SI curse!!

Yeah, I saw us on that one cover but we're in the final four!!

Ok, having said that I think Florida will be the toughest matchup yet for Mason. Mich State was good --but not really an elite team, Carolina was talented but inexperienced and inconsistent, Wichita St was a good team but nothing special, and even UConn had been weak throughout the tourney. Florida, on the other hand, has had a fantastic season and is absulutely loaded with big, althletic guys up front. Thier point guard has been more impressive than any I've seen in the tourney, and the whole team seems to be hot at the right time. Plus there's a little vendetta factor with a lot of the media picking them to choke. So, I think Mason can do it, but they'll have to step up even more than they have so far.

Now all we've got to decide is where we're going to watch the game

The curse isn't technically over. They have to win it all to beat the curse. But I'm tellin' you, there is no better story in the tournament than theirs. You're right, Florida will be their toughest opponent, but keep in mind that Florida won the SEC Championship game against South Carolina (who didn't even make the tournament) and only beat them by 2 points in one of the lowest scoring SEC Championship games in recent memory.
