I like to think that the crack in the middle is filled by God. :-)
I really was looking for a heart that said Happy Valentine’s Day with a circle and a slash through it. :-) So since I couldn’t find that, the broken heart had to do.
In actuality, my aversion to Valentine’s Day is not completely about seeing couples together. Believe me, I love LOVE, but I firmly believe that there should not be a holiday set aside to tell someone you love them. If you love someone, tell them on June 5th or October 12th or March 24th. And I’m not saying that couples actually wait until Valentine’s Day to tell the person they love that they do love them…If they do…that’s just wrong. But I just think that highlighting it as a day to do so undermines the entire nature of real and true love, which if/when you have it, should be expressed daily not yearly.
God’s love is all around me every day, not just on February 14th, but I don’t believe that the love we have for each other is the same love God has for us. Even though, He has taught us how to love, our love is still imperfect because we are imperfect. His love is perfect. And the best part is that He’s gonna tell me He loves me tomorrow, too. ;-)
I totally get it. Valentine's Day is just a holiday made up to sell stuff. So I definately get that part. But I revel in the cheesiness of it all too. :-)
There's a link to an anti-valentines site on my page. :)
I'm sending you a friendly Tuesday hug across the internet. ;o)
I saw that link this morning and checked it out. Some of their e-cards were really funny.
Thanks for the hug.
